Hi, I’m Tim Wolf —
I’m a filmmaker and photographer based in San Diego, California.
I studied documentary and journalism at Chapman University and started my career as a reporter, shooting and cutting stories solo in the field. I’ve driven into active tornado zones, hauled gear in 110° heat, and covered murders down rural backroads. Reporting was invaluable experience for me, and helped shape my storytelling style in a way that I’m proud of. Ultimately though, I left the news business because I wanted to be able to lean harder into the art of visual storytelling, and work on projects that more aligned with my values.
These days, I work with musicians, surfers, brands, nonprofits, and small businesses on projects that blur the lines between documentary, promo, and short film. Whether I’m shooting 35mm stills or cinematic video, I’m most interested in honest work that’s crafted in-camera, driven by story, and edited with intention.
There’s a good story in everything, no matter the size of the project. If you’re interested in collaborating, hit the contact button and let’s talk.
